Features

Historic Boats (2023)

  • Ibex and Berkhamstead (pair)
  • Ibex - Built in 1927 as an iron composite boat by Yarwoods for Fellows Morton & Clayton. Completely restored at Norbury Wharf by Dave Ray. 
  • Berkhamstead - Town Class built in 1936 by Harland and Wolff for Grand Union Carrying Company. This is currently in the process of being restored by the Shrewsbury and Newport Canal Society.
  • Saturn & Buckden
  • Saturn - 1906 wooden flyboat built for the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company.
  • Buckden - Town Class built in 1937 by Harland and Wolff for Grand Union Carrying Company.
  • Swift - Built in 1933 by Yardwoods for Cowburn & Cowpar.
  • Darley - Town Class built in 1937 by Harland and Wolff for Grand Union Carrying Company. Cut in two in the late 1960s for use as a dredger but reassembled in 1983. 
  • Prince - Royalty Class built in 1931 by James Pollock Sons & Co Ltd.
  • Pearl Barley and Ipswich (pair) - here as guest boats moored north of bridge 35.
  • Tench - Fish Class built in 1936 by Yarwoods.
  • Saltaire - Town Class built by in 1936 by Yarwoods for the Grand Union Carrying Company.

  • That’s Driculous (60ft) – Cheese boat

Festival Gardens - open Saturday and Sunday

Located at and kindly supported by The Navigation Inn

Raffle - to be drawn on Saturday and Sunday - some great prizes (meal vouchers, boat trips etc).

Festival Garden Music and Entertainment:

  • Face Painter
  • John Hibbs - Boating history slides / talk (Saturday 5:30pm)

Some of the music in the festival garden and on the towpath:

  • Open Mic night at The Navigation Inn (Thursday)
  • Rob Johns on guitar (Saturday morning/afternoon and Sunday morning)
  • Simple Folk - Simple Folk is a folk duo with Rachel Collett on vocals and Giles Eastwood on guitar. They play an eclectic mix of well-known and not so well-known folk songs from the 60s and 70s. (Sat/Sun Midday)
  •  Earl Grey and the Charwallers (Saturday night)
  •  Chris Del Manso is Elton John (Sunday afternoon)


Please note that the Navigation is not serving food but will continue to serve a wide range of drinks to complement your takeaway in the garden or on the patio.
